Steve Brine dropped into Soho Square on Tuesday 24th November as he visited the British Board of Film Classification.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP has taken a keen interest in the work of the organisation since he was first elected back in 2010, and is particularly concerned with the harm that inappropriate music and online content can have on children.
BBFC research has found that up to 60% of children aged 10-17 are watching music videos their parents would not approve of, and as a result, Vevo is currently looking to link age ratings to additional technology on their platforms that support age controls.
During the meeting, Steve and the team discussed new government legislation taken to prevent children viewing inappropriate content online, alongside a new ratings system on Vevo and Youtube.
Steve said: "This was most useful for me, and I know from my inbox this is something local parents feel very strongly about.
"There has been a lot of progress in recent months in this area, and I am delighted that back in August, independent music labels said they would join Government in taking part in a six-month pilot."
