A fundraising event will take place on Thursday 22nd September to support 'The Big Donation' campaign at Winchester's British Heart Foundation Shop on the High Street.
It is being organised by volunteers of the shop who were disgusted by the recent break in and burglary at the shop, and is being held in association with the Railway Inn.
Local MP Steve Brine popped into the store with a donation of clothes, on Wednesday 31st August, and took the time to speak to staff and volunteers.
He said: "What happened to our local BHF shop was hard to believe but it moved me to get in touch and see how I can help.
"As we move from Summer into Autumn we are asking people locally to ruthlessly go through their wardrobes and drawers and see what they don't use anymore. It doesn't have to be tons of stuff, just a few items dropped off the next time you are in town will help the store get back on its feet."
He also stressed that there are a number of charity shops in Winchester and people will understandably have personal loyalties to particular causes.
The Heart Beat event will be a showcase of local young talent and will take place on Thursday 22nd September 2011 at the Railway Inn, with live music from 8pm until 11pm.
Bands will include Cut Corners, Bad Magic, You Me and the Moon, and Sophia Al-Noah.
There will also be a small range of Heart Foundation gifts available for purchase.
Admission will be £5.00 on the door with all takings going to the British Heart Foundation Shop, Winchester.
