Steve Brine joined the Winchester Pregnancy Crisis Centre (WPCC) team at a fundraising event at the Mercure Hotel on Thursday 11th October, to learn more about the work the Centre carries out.
Serving Winchester, Alresford, Chandler's Ford, Kings Worthy, Micheldever, Sutton Scotney and Twyford, Winchester Pregnancy Crisis Centre has been established since 1998. Their aim is to offer support to women and their partners facing difficult decisions in regard to crisis pregnancy.
Advisors are trained to explore the options of parenting, adoption and abortion, and these are discussed in a way that enables clients to reach their own informed decision, within their value system. For those who choose abortion, the centre also offers post abortion support using a counselling programme called 'The Journey'.
Speaking after the event, Steve said: "It was great to come along tonight and learn more about the counselling, advice and support that counsellors carry out. WPCC relies heavily on the unpaid services and funding of volunteers, who freely give their time and expertise, as well as their money, in providing a vital service across the area."
