We'll cut inheritance tax and stamp duty says Steve Brine.
Shadow Chancellor, George Osborne, has promised to slash inheritance tax.
Speaking in Blackpool at the Tory Conference, he said a Conservative Government will raise the threshold of Inheritance tax to £1 million.
Prospective Winchester MP, Steve Brine, said; “I watched the speech in the hall myself and I think thousands of people across Winchester - where rising property prices have drawn so many people into the deeply unfair tax - will breathe a great sigh of relief that we finally have someone pledging to reform this tax. More than anything else, this says you will not be punished for working hard and saving hard and you will not be penalised for wanting a better life for your children.
"We also pledged to help first time buyers get on the housing ladder, so that anyone who buys their first home for under £250,000 will pay no stamp duty. The message here, especially to the local family working long hours and saving every spare pound to afford their first home is this - “We will get you out of tax and into your home."
“Taken together, I think our measures on stamp duty and inheritance tax represent the most important reform of capital taxes for a generation.”
