Winchester MP Steve Brine is thrilled that Emergency consultant Ewan McMorris is part of a 'BASICS' team which has scooped runners-up spot in a prestigious national award.
The voluntary team, who specialise in advanced critical care and are often first responders at accidents, took part in the Guardian public service awards on Tuesday 23rd November. They were nominated in the Citizenship and Volunteering category, where they finished just behind Yorkshire Water, who took first position for their commitment to the local community through a 'One Million Green Fingers' scheme.
Mr Brine said: “Once more, we see how Winchester is truly a highly respected District General Hospital which continues to attract the top people.
“As I have said for many years now, this also goes to show the importance of emergency, unscheduled care to RHCH, and I know Ewan is an absolute credit to our A&E department.
“I of course pass him and the rest of the BASICS Hampshire team all my congratulations on the award, and we are very lucky to have such a dedicated, voluntary team here on our doorsteps.”
