Steve dropped into to the Winchester Samaritans on Friday 7th October to meet the team and check out the work that they do.
Based on Upper High Street, the Samaritans are open from 9.30 am to 10 pm every day of the year for those in need, and take over 44,000 calls, texts or visits each year in Winchester alone.
On route to his next engagement, Steve said: "I think it's so important for MPs to visit every possible organisation in their constituencies and I certainly have a good number here in Winchester. The Samaritans have been in this city serving local people for a very long time and I know they are an often life-saving resource for people in a very desperate place.
"It was really good to visit, to see the branch and meet some of the team as well as get a full briefing on the work they do quietly and efficiently, often without praise, every day of the year. The Winchester Samaritans are clearly in good hands under the leadership of the current team and it really is good to know they are on the end of the phone for some of my most vulnerable constituents facing a time of crisis in their lives."
