Home-Start Winchester has launched a video to celebrate 10 years supporting local families.
The family support charity trains volunteers to work with parents in their own home. It helps them cope with the stresses and strains of life and ensures they have the skills, time and strength they need to nurture their children.
During the five minute film parents, volunteers and supporters reflect on the vital work carried out by the charity. Mums tell how Home-Start came into their lives, and the difference it has made to them and their children.
Chairman of Winchester Home-Start, Liz Cooper explained: "In addition to providing a lot of factual information, there is a feeling of optimism throughout the interviews. The emotional and practical support provided by the volunteers is shown to change family circumstances."
Home-Start has little statutory funding and relies on donations and the work of a small army of volunteers. Sue Gentry, a long-serving Home-Start trustee worked with the film makers and used her considerable professional skills to produce it.
Steve Brine added: "Home-Start is a truly fantastic charity, and I know they have provided friendship and support to nearly 400 vulnerable local families since they started up back in 2005. They are very much the fourth emergency service for many, and the video is definitely well worth a watch."
