Steve Brine spent Friday evening (April 7 2017) at All Saints church on Petersfield Road as the St Giles Hill Residents' Association held their annual general meeting.
The Winchester MP heard a range of interesting discussions around life on the iconic hill, led by chairman John Cooper, and then gave a speech about his life in Parliament, before taking questions from the floor.
Steve discussed the balance of his work as an MP, including personal and sensitive casework, which he described as the 'bread and butter' of his job, and not something people see in the local press. He also covered his roles in Parliament, and how he prioritises his work so that he is first and foremost a constituency MP.
There were a range of interesting questions from the floor, covering the future of our local health provision, which has been central to much of Mr Brine's work, and the regeneration plans for Winchester city centre.
Chris Burrows from the association said: "We were delighted that Steve found time in his busy Parliamentary and constituency schedule to speak at our AGM and to experience at first hand the work the Residents' Association does to support life on the Hill. Our members enjoyed a stimulating and interesting speech and warmly appreciated Steve's interest and engagement."
Steve Brine MP said: "I love speaking at these community events and the turnout on a warm Friday evening for this residents' association AGM was great. I was hugely impressed with the job John, Chris and the committee do for the area and the way they clearly work so effectively with Cllrs Fiona Mather and Ian Tait."
