Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine is passionate about the 'green' agenda which drove him towards a career in politics from a very early age.

He has focused heavily on the issue since becoming Prospective MP for this constituency in late 2006; one of his first acts was to host a special screening of Al Gore's Oscar winning film An Inconvenient Truth at The Screen, Winchester.

Steve says; "I am a pretty positive person and I happen to believe the massive challenge posed by climate change can be an even bigger opportunity if we approach it in the right way.  Moving to a low-carbon economy does not need to be all pain and it should not be about turning the clock back to some pre-industrial age.  If we wag our fingers at people in Winchester for living their lives we will get nowhere and we will lose the argument.  We need to work together and take every opportunity to change behaviour in an evolutionary way that will reduce our carbon footprint in line with locally agreed targets."

As well as supporting many of the progressive green policies of the current Government, Steve is determined to move our area towards a plastic free future and is working with exciting local organisations such as Final Straw Winchester led by local mum Michele Ingerslev. See details of our exclusive SILLY STRAW SATURDAY competition.
