School cycle bus

Local MP, Steve Brine, joined a special school-bound cycle 'bus' this morning from Colden Common & Twyford into Winchester.

Steve rode with parents and children from Twyford - meeting up with riders from Twyford - to Westgate and Kings School before 8am this morning. The cycle bus runs every Wednesday morning.

He says; "The group asked me to join them to see the route they take which includes some lovely off-road parts but also some pretty hair-raising stretches on busy roads. I am committed to work with them to pull together councils, and other organisations, to work towards a safer permanent route to school.

"it's good for health, the environment and learning so it's a no-brainer."

Hampshire Chronicle column - Farewell

Thursday, 30 May, 2024
My final column is perhaps more reflective than usual but I hope you will forgive me as I prepare to formally step down as Parliament is formally Dissolved ahead of the General Election on July 4. Fourteen years ago, in May 2010, I was first elected as our MP.
